Canada Falls from 5 to 25 on International Child Outlook Scales. What Will It Look Like by 2009?

j0428663.jpgThe Star reports Canada is plunging on scales assessing the outlook for children in the world’s countries. It seems highly significant that this gigantic drop is recorded 15 months after Canada changed it’s government and it’s direction on supporting Canada’s children. We have dropped from 5th to 25th …what a legacy the Cons plan to leave for Canada’s families. Not a drop of shame to be seen in these numbers by this bunch either. The Star writes,

The report from Save the Children, based in London, has Canada dropping over the past year to 25th place from 5th on the Children’s Index.

Then I read Garth Turner’s blog and he says we could wind up having to wait until 2009 for an election if Duceppe is leaving the Bloc to head the PQ. I don’t think this country can wait until 2009. I cannot bear to think of the decimation to our early learning and child care systems if we let the Cons continue down this path until 2009. What a completely depressing, deflating suggestion.

Wilson61: Please note that the 2007 Mother’s Day Report, as indictated on page 55 of the report, refers to data collected in 2005, and in some cases, 2004.
